Trump mocks Haley as major donor deserts after South Carolina loss: Live

Trump Tells South Carolina Republican Primary Winner Joe Biden 'You're Fired'

Donald Trump wasted no time mocking his rival for the Republican presidential nomination, Nikki Haley, as the Charles Koch-backed Americans for Prosperity Action Donor Network announced it would no longer support her campaign after she lost the South Carolina primary.

A jubilant Mr Trump wrote on Truth Social on Sunday that Mr Koch and his partners had “played for the suckers from the start”.

As the GOP front-runner turned his sights on Joe Biden after his fourth straight primary victory Saturday night, he purposely avoided even mentioning Ms. Haley.

“We're going to be here on November 5th and we're going to see Joe Biden,” Mr Trump told his audience.

“He's destroying our country, and we're going to say, 'Joe, you're fired.' Get out. Get out, Joe. You're fired.''

Earlier in the day, Mr Trump addressed the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), likening himself to notorious Depression-era gangster Al Capone and comparing illegal immigrants to Hannibal Lecter, warning they threaten to bring a new wave of crime to America. And boasted about refusing to back down in the face of his ever-mounting legal troubles.

An RNC member is trying to block the party from paying Trump's legal fees

At least one member of the Republican National Committee is trying to slow down Donald Trump's corporate takeover by keeping the group neutral until Trump is officially the presidential nominee and refrains from taking up his legal bills.

Henry Barber, a national committee member from Mississippi, has sent two draft resolutions for consideration at the RNC's upcoming March meeting in Houston. Barber said support for the resolutions is growing among RNC members, but he still doesn't have the supporters he needs, and any resolution would ultimately be nonbinding.

The move comes after Trump publicly called last week to replace the current chairs of the RNC and appoint one of his senior campaign advisers and his daughter-in-law Laura Trump to key roles. Laura Trump suggested earlier in the week that GOP voters would support a group paying her father-in-law's legal bills as he faces criminal and civil charges.

Fiona Hill warns Trump 'will tear up all deals not in his name'

Donald Trump's continued presence on the US political scene has longtime allies worried about whether the US can be a reliable security partner, according to Fiona Hill, a former national intelligence officer and National Security Council official in the Trump administration.

Speaking at the Principles First Summit, a gathering of anti-Trump and pro-democracy conservatives in Washington, Ms Hill was asked about how Mr Trump would have reacted to the killing of Russian dissident Alexei Navalny.

The twice-impeached, disgraced former president, whose performance during a 2018 Helsinki press conference with Russian President Vladimir Putin was so poor that he considered pulling the fire alarm to end it, may have actually reacted negatively to Navalny's death. I thought it made him worse.

“It's really about how he reflects,” he said.
