Abby Choi: Hong Kong model Abby Choi’s ex-husband and relatives have been charged with murder

Hong Kong (CNN) 4 members of the same family have been accused of brutal murder Hong Kong model Abby Choi Public broadcaster RTHK reported after police said they found what were believed to be parts of his dismembered body when he appeared in court on Monday.

Choi’s ex-husband Alex Kwong, 28, her brother Anthony, 31, and their father, Kwong Gao, 65, were charged with her murder. Alex Kwong’s mother Jenny Li, 63, has been charged with perverting the course of justice, RTHK reported.

All four were denied bail, the Kowloon City Magistrate’s Court ruled on Monday, RTHK reported. They are yet to file a petition.

On Sunday, police said investigators identified a skull, several ribs and hair believed to be Choi’s remains in a large stainless steel soup pot. Other body parts, including Choi’s body and arms, are missing.

It follows a police investigation that began on Wednesday after 28-year-old Choi was reported missing. Two days later, parts of his body were found in a house in the city’s Tai Po district, police said. A meat cleaver, an electric saw and some clothes were also found in the house, police said.

Choi’s ex-husband was arrested on Saturday aboard a boat on one of the city’s outer islands, police said. His brother and parents were arrested on Friday.

The fifth suspect, a 47-year-old woman, was arrested on Sunday in connection with the case, police said.

Choi, a model and social media influencer with over 100,000 followers on Instagram, recently appeared as a digital cover model for luxury magazine L’Officiel Monaco and attended this year’s Paris Fashion Week.

As the gruesome details of the trial dominated headlines in local media, thousands of people posted their condolences on Choi’s social media accounts.

The court has adjourned the case to May 8 to allow for further police investigation, RTHK said.
