Melissa Barrera is no longer acting Knife VII. The actor was fired from the program following a series of social media posts following the Israel-Hamas war.
“Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp,” he wrote in a post on Instagram Stories. “All together, nowhere to go, no electricity, no water… People have not learned anything from our histories. Like our histories, people are still silently watching everything. This is Genocide & Ethnic Cleansing.

Barrera also helped revive the franchise scream, the 2022 feature grossed $137.7 million worldwide and reunited a multi-generational cast from the franchise. Barrera’s Sam Carpenter was the heroine of the film and the older sister of Jenna Ortega’s Tera. Barrera also acted Scream VIIt was released in March and grossed $168.9 million at the worldwide box office.

Now, Spyglass is expected to restructure plans following Barrera. Paramount has handled distribution for recent installments and is expected to return for the new film.
Earlier on Tuesday, news broke that actor Susan Sarandon had been fired by talent agency UTA following comments she made at a pro-Palestinian rally in New York City on November 17.
