Several people were shot dead overnight outside an Ybor City nightclub

YBOR City, Fla. – Two people were killed and 19 injured in a shooting in Ybor City.

Tampa police say it happened just before 3 a.m. Sunday in the area of ​​Tangra Nightclub in the 1600 block of E 7th Ave.

Police chief Lee Berkau said the incident started as a dispute between two groups. One person died at the scene and the second at a local hospital.

“This morning, it’s sad that families have to wake up and see what happened here tonight on the news,” Bergau said. “We have to think about the families involved and the victims, and our hearts go out to them.”

The extent of the 19 injured was not immediately known, but they were taken to hospital.

More than four dozen officers responded to the scene.

Bergau said one person has turned himself in, but the investigation is in its early stages.
